This is my interview that we had together just before her launch, she was in Australia and we were in Spain at 3.00 am my local time.
Without further ado, I will let Maini speak.
Hello. It’s Manny Homer here. We are here to go live with the beautiful Laura Helen to talk about my amazing book launch that is happening tomorrow. If you are in the States tomorrow, we are launching my book, Locked Down, Took my Income at 9:00 PM, EST. And if you are in Australia, we are launching at 11 o’clock ADT, which is nine o’clock in Perth. And of course, one o’clock in New Zealand. I’m really hopeful that you guys are going to be here.
All right let’s talk about that. I created the book because I could see that we were about to hit a big crisis, and I’ve got all this knowledge in my head. And I just knew that it would be able to help so many people. I knew that it’s something that people would desperately need. It was something that they would want, it would absolutely transform their lives, which is why I’m here. This is exactly why I’m here.
I haven’t had an easy ride in life and I believe that what I’ve been through and dealing with the things I’ve dealt with, has all brought me to this moment to where I can finally put it all down on paper and be able to help so many people, whether it be in business or whether it be in anything else that they are facing in their lives, I’ve had such an incredible amount of experience.
And that’s why I wrote the book because I knew I could make a huge difference in so many lives.

It’s for people… it’s for anyone really that wants to start their own business. A bit of history is, I’ve been in business for 23 years. In that time, I’ve actually created 11 businesses from scratch. What I’ve discovered about myself is that my superpower is actually building those businesses.
Starting from scratch, taking an idea, running with that idea and making something amazing out of it. That’s actually my superpower. It really is. So, what better way to be able to help other people do exactly the same than to help them with this nine-step blueprint that has worked so many times for me. Would you believe I’m actually using the exact same blueprint now, putting this book out?
I’m actually following the step-by-step guide right now that I talk about in my book. Once again, it’s performing well, it’s working well for me. It’s so easy. If you follow the steps bit by bit, if you do the work, there’s exercises along with every single chapter. So, if you actually do the steps that I take, it’s really easy. Look, I say yeah, because I’ve done it 11 times. Do you know what I mean? But when I first did it the very first time, I had no experience whatsoever. I just did it. I found the way and maybe I was a little entrepreneurial, but at the end of the day, do you know if you follow the steps in the book, then it’s so easy. It really is easy.
One of the biggest things that I found in my journey, now we do talk a lot about mindset in the book because that’s what’s so freaking important is mindset. But one of my journeys in life I’ve found is that, if anyone who doesn’t know my history, I grew up with no self-esteem, no self-worth. And there was a lot of abuse in my family. So, I came out with absolutely no self-belief whatsoever and no self-confidence.
I didn’t believe in myself. Didn’t think I was good enough. Didn’t think I was worthy, any of this. And so, mindset’s a huge thing. And one of the things I’ve learned is that people used to say things to me like, “Oh, you’ve got to love yourself before others can love you, but nobody taught you how. Nobody taught you how, and this was the biggest thing that I stumbled on for absolute years.
And so, what I’ve made sure I’ve done with the book is, I’ve made sure that it’s easy for you to follow. It’s easy for you to do, so if you just follow the steps, it will help you first of all, to discover what it is that you’re passionate about, what it is that you would love to be doing and it’ll actually show you step by step, how to make it happen.
Absolutely not. No. It doesn’t matter how old you are or how young you are or how anything you are. Anyone can do this if you just believe that you can, and you follow the steps that I’ve laid out in the book. Anyone can actually do this. It’s so easy, absolutely. There are people getting in business like Colonel Sanders was about 70 before someone finally bought his chicken. Something ridiculous like that.
No, you don’t need money at all to start a business, I’ve started several of them with absolutely no money down whatsoever. It’s just been leveraged off other things and that’s the important bit. Our very first business, the business that Pete and I started 20 years ago.
I think the only thing we bought was a hundred business cards, which was next to nothing. And we had a thriving business within two or three weeks of actually just getting out there and starting it because we utilized the skills that we had. And again, I teach this in the book as well is about utilizing what you already have, learning how your skills can actually make a difference.
It’s seeing the difference that I can make in people’s lives. As I said earlier in this live, I haven’t had an easy life. It’s been a long, hard journey. I have not shared a lot of my story, but I haven’t had an easy ride, it’s been rough. But along the way, I’ve learned so many things and so many incredible lessons. And I just want to give that. I just want to share my knowledge. I just want to be able to help other people. I want to help stop it taking so long, if that makes sense, because I had no one to help me and I had no one to support me.
I’ve got an amazing husband of course, but in the areas, I needed it with my confidence in myself esteem and my self-worth and my self-belief, this is something that I had to learn on my own. And if I can just help one person with this book, if I can help one person to be able to just cut that time down and make that difference, then I’ve won.
That’s what inspires me each and every day is, who I can help, who I can serve. And that’s why I’ve written this book.
All right, the top takeaway Laura, would absolutely be that they can, they really can do this if they just believe in themselves. And they believe that they are capable of doing anything that they put their mind to, then they can, and they will succeed.
And that will be the top takeaway is just believing that you can. You’ve got to believe in yourself, but the beauty, here’s the thing Laura, and everyone that’s out there. There’s a little cheat in the book right at the very beginning so that even if you don’t have that self-belief in yourself right now, and I employ you to get it if that’s the case.
There is actually a way around it temporarily. It’s not going to last forever. It’s not a cheat that’s going to help you forever, but it definitely will help you to get past it so you can take steps forward. So, Laura says, “Believing and, taking action, creates success.” Absolutely girl. I mean, you’ve got to believe in you. Mindset is so freaking important. People don’t realize just how important it is. And even myself, even though I’ve been successful in business, I’ve been more successful in the last few years since I got my mindset sorted than I ever dreamed that I would be.
Absolutely we do spend a fair bit of time in the book talking about mindset, because it is absolutely important. Now, if you’re not sure what I mean by mindset, I’m talking about your self-belief and your self-worth and knowing your self-worth.
We go over pretty much working out exactly what it is that you want to do, being able to leverage, we look at turning over stones. We get you to make a solid plan. We talk about the importance of taking action. We’re talking about mindset.
We’re talking about getting rid of your negative emotions and your limiting beliefs and the things that are holding you back and stopping you. It covers your target markets, starting to drill down on your target market. And it really talks about things that can happen to you if you do not take the action. I’ve had a couple of experiences in my life and I do talk about them in the book where I’ve come up with the most brilliant idea and I haven’t executed it. And then somebody famous did or something amazing happened. One of those examples is someone coming up with the same idea that I had five years before, only he executed it and did it, so I was like…AAhhh
But do you know, I’ve actually heard that that’s the law of the universe. If the universe blesses you with an idea and you don’t take any action, then it’ll just pass it onto somebody else. I mean, why not? So, look, it’s got so much value. There is so much to learn. I’ve got people that have read my book and they’ve instantly done a pivot and started changing their lives and started their own business. They’ve finally been able to work out and hone down on exactly what it is that they wanted to do. And they’re just going out and doing it because they now believe that they can, so that simple.
Anyone can do it. It’s just about believing in you. That’s what it comes down to.
